Peak viewing season for the Northern Lights is September through March, when the nights are long in Iceland. During the winter solstice, darkness can extend for approximately 19 hours. You can see the Northern Lights from the capital, Reykjavik, if they are intense but the light pollution can get in the way. Our driver-guide will then head out to the countryside, away from the light pollution in the city, and the hunt begins. During the drive or while we are waiting for the Northern Lights to show up, your knowledgeable guide will help you with setting up your camera, explain all the science behind the Northern Lights to you and serve you delicious hot chocolate and an Icelandic “Kleina”.
