Winter is a wonderful time to visit Iceland. It is the longest season, incorporating the months of November, December, January, February, and March. This is the time when Iceland is at its coldest and darkest but there is something magical about the time. Take a look at some of the winter activities we offer!
For the Rush Seeking Traveler!
Mountaineers “SnoMo” trips are suited for those that have some recreational vehicle experience. You will be provided with a powerful Yamaha Viper snowmobile, a three-cylinder 1000cc machine with approximately 140 horsepower. These snowmobiles have more than double the displacement that we offer in our other non SnoMo tours. These performance snowmobiles are single seated mountain machine monsters capable of literally all snowy terrains.
In winter, the Highlands are an extraordinary adventure open to only a few. Landmannalaugar, the base camp for this circuit, is known to summer guests for colorful landscapes and amazing geothermal activity (the world’s third biggest source of geothermal hot springs). In winter, the region regains its calm and serenity and this landscape of ravines and canyons becomes even more memorable with steam clouds rising from the snow-clad hills.
Add to this scenery the pleasure of a nice warm bath in a hot spring under the evening sky, sometimes decorated with the northern light, and you will have an unforgettable experience.
Heli-Happy Hour This round trip to a nearby mountain takes in breath-taking views of Reykjavik as you overfly the city and land on one of the table top mountains. You will see colorful and charming dollhouse roofs, the neighboring towns and the surrounding countryside with extensive lava fields, reminding us of the true volcanic nature of Iceland. After a thrilling helicopter ride we land on one of the summits surrounding the city for the photo opportunity of a life-time. We pop up a bottle of sparkling wine while enjoying the scenic views of the coastal plain panorama, the cityscape of Reykjavik and distant mountains.
Imagine yourself standing in the middle of nowhere watching the Northern Lights in total silence. This private Northern Lights Tour can make your dreams come true!
It’s hard to describe the feeling when you watch the Northern Lights dancing in the sky. It is definitely an experience of a lifetime.
With that being said, we created this Northern Light tour to increase the chances for you to witness Iceland’s natural phenomenon.
