Wondering what overclothes to pack for a trip to Iceland in the winter time? Don´t worry! We made you a check-list. Check it out!
Fleece and wool items are the best option, both for comfort and ease of packing.
At this time of year there will probably be snow in most parts of Iceland but much of the country is still as accessible as other times of the year. It is good to keep in mind that the weather can be unpredictable at this time of year, even most often all year round. So do be prepared to wake up one morning thinking it´s going to be a dry and calm day (well, at least as far as the weather is concerned) but that can change quickly! It could be a stormy afternoon whith rain and an evening with heavy snowfall. Icelanders say you can experience four seasons a day, and that sure is true.
Crampons may also come in handy because even the best hiking shoes will slip away on an icy surface and paths can get very slippery. We also recommend a water resistant backpack.
Many activities can only be done during winter, like northern lights hunting and ice caving in Icelandic glaciers. Check out our amazing 2 days South Coast Winter Tour where you will see the best of the best. Explore Iceland’s stunning South Coast, stroll around the Glacier Lagoon, experience the beauty of the Diamond Beach and top it off with an adventurous Ice Cave Tour.
